RUUSK X PROVIDER STORE: IN THE MAKING
Behind every meaningful collaboration lies a shared story, a merging of visions, and a commitment to creating something truly special. With Hikari, the limited-edition candle created in collaboration between RUUSK and Provider Store, we sought to capture the essence of light, connection, and intention through slow craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
The journey of Hikari began with a simple idea: to create a piece that embodies the values both brands hold close. Tara, the founder of Provider Store, brought her deep passion for scents, candle-making, and sourcing beautifully crafted vessels. Tania, our founder and creative mind behind RUUSK, contributed her love for organic forms, timeless durability, and meaningful storytelling through jewellery. Together, they discovered a shared purpose—offering something that is as heartfelt as it is functional, a piece that would add warmth and meaning to any space.
"I have always had an interest in perfume and fragrance. I was finding it hard to come across candles I liked 10 years ago so I started creating my own. I like how a scent can become part of who you are. We have customers who refill their candles with the same scent every time and have for years. I find this really special as it creates a sense of home. I have always loved the ambience they create and how they can add intimacy to any room."

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND HIKARI
Both Tania and Tara were inspired by the Japanese concept of “hikari,” meaning “light.” For them, light symbolises guidance, warmth, and a sense of calm—qualities that align with their shared commitment to creating objects that enrich lives. The candle reflects this ethos in every detail, from its soothing scent to its carefully considered design.
"Jewellery has always been about connection—holding meaning and memories close to us. I see homewares as an extension of that—pieces that create a sense of warmth and belonging in our most personal spaces. This collaboration felt like a natural step, merging the intention behind our jewellery with something that could bring light, beauty, and thoughtfulness into the intimacy of people’s homes."

For Tara, the process of designing the candle's vessel was an opportunity to celebrate the handcrafted aesthetic that defines Provider Store. Working with local ceramicist Emi Tanaka, whose work is rooted in the Japanese philosophy of wabi sabi, she ensured that each vessel would be a true work of art. Tania found the process of translating RUUSK’s ethos into a candle form equally rewarding, as it allowed her to extend her storytelling into a new medium while staying true to her brand’s values.
A CANDLE MADE WITH CARE
The creation of Hikari was a labour of love. Each candle was hand-poured by Tara herself, using pure soy wax for a clean, sustainable burn. The ceramic vessels, also handmade in Australia, embody the kind of organic beauty that both brands celebrate. Every step of the process was slow, intentional, and rooted in a desire to create something that felt truly special.
"We use really high quality wax and fragrances so I find that I am super proud of this. It takes a really long time to create a fragrance - with so much testing and trying things. It's so rewarding when we launch a new scent and it become someone's signature home aroma. I also love that you can burn many of our candles at the same time and they all complement one another."

A COLLABORATION ROOTED IN SHARED VALUES
What makes Hikari so meaningful is the alignment of RUUSK and Provider Store’s values. Both brands champion sustainability, slow-made practices, and the magic of handcrafted designs. For Tania and Tara, these principles are more than just ideals—they are integral to how they approach their work and connect with their communities.
"There’s something so powerful about creating with intention—knowing that every piece is made with care, thought, and love. For me, it’s about honouring the process and ensuring that what we create adds meaning and value to people’s lives. Slow, sustainable craftsmanship reminds us to pause, appreciate quality, and choose pieces that will last, which is at the heart of everything we do at RUUSK."

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE FUTURE
This collaboration marks RUUSK’s very first venture into homewares, making Hikari even more special. Tania reflects on the joy of working with Tara and the Provider Store team, describing it as an inspiring and seamless process. Together, they’ve created a candle that not only celebrates their shared vision but also sets the tone for future creative ventures.
"Working with Tara and Provider Store has been such a rewarding experience—her attention to detail and passion for her craft align so beautifully with RUUSK’s ethos. This collaboration has inspired me to explore new ways of storytelling through craftsmanship. Without giving too much away, 2024 will bring more pieces that honour connection, intention, and the beauty of slow-made design."
