Mary (Mimi) Grimley (nee Adams) grew up the youngest of seven, in a house full of stories. Her father was an architect and author, her mother a multi-skilled creative. She spent afternoons in her fathers office, Bee Gees on the record player, watching him sketch at his drafting table. Or helping her mother sort through fabric swatches, colour decisions, or carefully creating scale models by hand. Design wasn't something Mary studied, it was something that naturally was there from the beginning.

Despite being surrounded by creatives, she took the longer road back to it. A double degree in Law and Communications, a few years in the corporate world, then a gradual return to the thing that had always made sense. After 6 years running a successful events agency, she found the industry she had been looking for: Jewellery.

Drawn by the same principles that shaped her childhood: the balance between form and beauty, Mary spent years collecting precious stones and learning the craft of jewellery design from the inside out. As a wearer of pieces passed down from her mother and grandmother, she understood early that jewellery carries more than design. It carries memory. That belief is built into everything RUUSK makes: solid gold, locally handcrafted, heirloom quality. Her two daughters continue to be a daily reminder of why that matters, and of the stories still being written.
